Uber is old news. The car-sharing app is just one of many taxi-like schemes. One company has decided to move beyond it – and look to the skies. Meet JetSmarter. JetSmarter is a new company that has gained support from illustrious individuals, from music mogul Jay-Z to the Saudi Royal Family. But what is it?

Well, the clue is in the name. JetSmarter aims to do just that.

Like Uber, through transport sharing solutions, JetSmarter aims to get people where they need to go faster, easier, and in a more cost-effective way. The app uses private planes, many of which are not full to capacity, and matches them with eager travellers.

It’s estimated that 5000 hours of flight time goes unused due to empty cabins. JetSmarter hopes to help reduce this. Having already received $20m worth of investments from Saudi’s royal family, Jay Z, Goldman Sachs and Twitter, it will not be long before JetSmarter takes to the skies.
