World’s Most Expensive Diamond Bought…And Given to 7-Year Old

Not many young girls can show off of owning a 12 carat diamond named after themselves, but Josephine Lau, 7 year old daughter of Hong-Kong magnate Joseph Lau can.  In addition, she can assert that hers has been purchased at auction at a world record-breaking price: $48.4m (£32m).

The diamond has been set on her new “Blue Moon of Josephine” ring. This unique vivid blue stone was found last year in South Africa, cut in New York by Cora International, and has eventually been sold after a tense sales auction at Sotheby’s in Geneva by a record £2.6m per carat.

Apparently this is not the first time that billionaire Joseph Lau has treated Josephine and her sister Zoe (13 years) with extremely exclusive and coveted jewels. It total the gifts have been valued at circa 30 million dollars. These are definitely not your average toys.
